IMPROV WORKSHOP – “Dive Into Story”: Storytelling and narrative sensibilities opens up exciting new approaches to your improv. See your scene from a different perspective, find choices to serve story (not just game), create stakes that matter to you and to the audience, collaborate deeper with your teammates, and play with narrative/text structures inspired by and inspiring to your scenes. A story perspective can sharpen the focus of your scenes, bring more artfulness to your choices, and deliver not only comedy but a satisfying tale well told. This workshop will explore a broad range of story and narrative techniques drawn from Johnstone, Spolin, Disney, Pixar and other sources. Mark Chalfant is the artistic/executive director of Washington Improv Theater. He has been performing and teaching for over 15 years.
